Berry Smoothie – the classic

Happy women’s day everybody! How great that there is a day especially for all amazing females out there! Today is among others about equality, fairness and women’s rights which are very important topics we shouldn’t just address today but every day.

It was very busy in the afternoon with entusiastic, beautiful people going on the streets and speak out. However, it also means that metros were packed due to the demonstration. I wanted to meet up with a friend today to eat ethiopian food, but she couldn’t make it since she had to return home walking. Anyway, at least I found some time to write another blog post. This time I want to talk smoothies with you! I think everyone loves smoothies. They are just great, you can make them in any variety possible and adapt them to your taste. Personally, I really like smoothies with a lot of berries and banana in it. Unfortunately, at the moment, there are not so many fresh berries available, and if, they are quite expensive. This is why I really like to go for the frozen option. In Barcelona it is sometimes difficult to find frozen fruits because they have extra supermarkets just for frozen things (Weird, no?), but luckily I always pass one of these supermarkets on my way home. So, I just need to stop for a second, buy some frozen fruits and be happy for the rest of the week. I know there are a lot of fancy smoothie recipes out there and this one is quite basic, but I really, really like it and I do it a lot of times to bring it to work.

For two smoothies:

  • 600 ml plantbased milk (I really like to use soy- or hazelnutmilk)
  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 handful of mixed berries, but honestly any berry you like would work
  • 1 pinch of vanilla

Smoothies are one of the easiest recipes on this planet. You just put everything into a blender or food processor and mix it very well. And there are so many ways to make one. You can easily add some spinach, kale, mangos, seeds, avocado, kiwi …..
